Frequently Asked Questions

Does the mother of the child have to be involved in testing?

No. It is easier for the lab to get a complete picture of the child’s DNA if the mother is tested. But we are able to get accurate test results by testing just the alleged father and the child.

How do I get my DNA samples to you?

We will send you a DNA test kit in the mail, and at your earliest convenience, you gather the samples of everyone being tested and mail them samples back to us. In the kit you will find directions telling you exactly how to collect and handle the DNA samples. We have made this as easy as possible for you and your family.

Is this a blood test?

This is a DNA test. The samples we use for testing are cheek cells taken from the inside of your mouth. To gather those cheek cells you use a buccal swab which resembles a Q-Tip. This is a completely painless process and very easy to do – even on babies and small children.

How long does it take to get test results?

Your test results will be ready 5 working days after we receive your DNA samples at our laboratory.

How do I get started?

You have two choices. Firstly, you can use our on-line form to set-up your case. This way, you stay anonymous and no one will know you are going through testing unless you tell them. Secondly, you can call us to set-up your test over the phone. Confidentiality is important to you and so it is important to us. Even though you are speaking to one of our representatives on the phone, no one will know you are going through testing unless you tell them.
