How to Read Your Test Results
Parentage Test delivers only the most accurate and reliable DNA paternity test results, but you have to be able to read and understand the results in order for them to mean anything.
The results that you receive will look like a table full of numbers. There are three columns: one for the Mother, one for the Child and one for the possible Father. Each row in the table represents a different DNA locus (a specific area of your DNA). Each person will have two numbers for each locus, which represent that specific area on their individual DNA. If there is only one number represented that means that both pieces of your DNA at that locus are the same size.
Remember, a child must receive half of her DNA from her biological Mother and half from her biological Father. Look at the results one locus at a time. One of the childs numbers will match the mother. The other number in the Childs DNA must come from the biological Father. If the other number matches one of the tested fathers numbers (on the same locus), then it is possible that he is the biological father. If that number does not match, then it is possible that he is not the biological father.
One locus cannot conclusively determine the paternity of a child. We test 9-15 different loci for each DNA sample and calculate a probability of paternity. The probability of paternity represents the likelihood that the tested man is or is not the biological father of the tested child. If the tested man is the biological father of the child, the results paragraph will say that he is NOT EXCLUDED as the biological father of the child and you will see a probability of paternity that can be as high as 99.999%. If the tested man does not match the tested child, then he is EXCLUDED as the biological father of the child and given a 0% probability of paternity.
It is extremely important that you understand your test results. If you have any questions regarding any aspect of the test report, please do not hesitate to contact one of our paternity consultants at 1-888-362-2599.
